Our Story
The Birth of 170 Grammi
Born out of a love for Rome and its culinary delights, 170 Grammi brings the crispy joy of Roman-style pizza to the streets of Sydney. Our founder, Luigi Esposito, inspired by his wife’s Roman heritage, decided to create a pizzeria that celebrates the unique, crunchy, and delicious pizzas of Rome. Every pizza starts with a 170-gram dough ball, hence the name, ensuring the perfect balance of thin crust and mouth-watering toppings.

With over 35 years of pizza-making experience, Luigi Esposito is no stranger to the art of crafting perfect pizzas. Known for his famous Neapolitan pies at Via Napoli, Luigi has now set his sights on introducing Sydneysiders to the lesser-known but equally delicious Roman-style pizza. Luigi’s passion for pizza, combined with his fun-loving personality, ensures that every visit to 170 Grammi is a delightful experience.

Pizza was yummy. Thin crusted, the right amount of cheese and sauce. We had the Margherita with olives, mushrooms and onion.
The Arancini had a thick crispy crust. The rocket salad was also good.

Recommended! Excellent light digestible pizza with thin dough for those who don't like the classic Neapolitan. Fresh products from burrata to pesto in the pasta and frying not heavy at all. As a dessert I recommend the fresh pastry maritozzo. I ate it with pistachio cream and it was like going back to Italy for a moment. Quality price considering everything correct.

I was greeted by the loveliest Italian woman with the biggest smile when I arrived. The food was delicious and the vibe was great! We will definitely be back!

The best arancini I’ve ever had. The pizza and rigatoni amatriciana were absolutely delicious not to mention the tiramisu which was also 10/10. The service was also absolutely fabulous really friendly and attentive staff!

Pizza was delicious. We had the Margerita and capricciosa. Our server, a lovely young lady from Columbia, was friendly and enthusiastic. Overall a very enjoyable lunch. Will return to try some of the other pizza and pasta options as the food being served to nearby tables looks awesome

Amazing service. The Neapolitan pizza was so tasty. Ended the night some beautiful dessert and a lemoncello shot.
Loved it, will definitely be returning to try more of the menu. Pizza was delicious thin and crispy and full of flavour, couldn't fault the service either.

Exceptional pizza place. Crispy, thin and Roman style. And the big news is they have gluten free pizzas and pastas. The owner was in the open kitchen and cooking with passion. My friends told me that he is a well known Italian Chef Luigi Esposito. I had GF Capriciosa without ham, it was one of the best pizzas in my life and best panzanella salad ever. I think its because the chef's love of cooking. My friends (3 boys) ate all the menu😀🙊 they loved everything. Had an ıtalian white wine. Lovely place. Tuesday's off. Weekends 12pm to 10 pm. Other days 5pm to 10 pm. Ig you wanna have a real pizza. Go there.

There is no other pizza made with some much love following the traditional steps of the Roman recipe as I found in this little jewel in Surry Hills, Sydney. Having a slice of these pizzas will transport you in a journey of the senses in the centre of Rome, Italy the city of the Jubilee. Took my girlfriend for a casual stroll on crown St and this place looked so inviting we chatted to the staff. Both service and food was excellent and the price affordable.
Great pizza, thin crispy crust with quality ingredients. Friendly and inviting service, pizza didn’t make me feel bloated after. Will visit again. Hopefully they maintain the same level quality.

You may come for the food, and it will never disappoint, but stay for the staff, whose warmth and professionalism make every visit truly special. They don’t just serve, they care, and you can feel it in every detail.
I can't even begin to describe the yumminess of the food we had tonight: calamari, suppli and mortazza...delicious, all accompanied by a nice glass of wine and the hospitality of Alessandra. Definitively recommended

To be recommended, very nice place. I liked the pizza. Dough is so thin, and filling also good. The salad was good as well, rich medeterian with deep olive oil and tasty, decent size. All in all lovely cooking, pleasant service.
A wonderful welcome from knowledgeable, smiley staff and quite simply the THE BEST PIZZA WE'VE EVER EATEN (and my brother used to live in Rome so we've had lots of experience). Even though I have to stick to gluten-free bases, I can still recognize a great pizza when I taste one, and this pizza was absolutely amazing. It easily ranks as one of the best pizzas I’ve had, with toppings that were simply outstanding.
My lack of knowledge about Italian pizza was evident when I didn’t fully understand the various options on the menu, as I’m more accustomed to toppings like meatlovers and pepperoni. However, the staff were incredibly patient with me and took the time to explain the different options that would be closest to what I was looking for.

Fantastic!!! The pizza was amazing. We had the margarita. Thin crispy base loaded with flavour. The parmigiana el tegamino with the puffy bread was delicious. And so was the Panzanella salad.

Quattro formaggi was amazing. Thin pizza with fresh ingredients. The gamberi spaghetti was also great with delicious bite sized prawns. Service was very quick and the staff are very friendly. Wish I found this place sooner!!

One of the best Roman style pizza you can find in Sydney. Also I recommend to try their tasty pasta and Antipasti. As an Italian I felt like going back to my home country

The seafood pasta was a standout—perfectly cooked with fresh, flavourful seafood that was absolutely delicious. The margarita pizza was a classic done to perfection, with a beautifully crispy crust.
