Our Story
The Birth of 170 Grammi
Born out of a love for Rome and its culinary delights, 170 Grammi brings the crispy joy of Roman-style pizza to the streets of Sydney. Our founder, Luigi Esposito, inspired by his wife’s Roman heritage, decided to create a pizzeria that celebrates the unique, crunchy, and delicious pizzas of Rome. Every pizza starts with a 170-gram dough ball, hence the name, ensuring the perfect balance of thin crust and mouth-watering toppings.
Meet Luigi
The Pizza Maestro
With over 35 years of pizza-making experience, Luigi Esposito is no stranger to the art of crafting perfect pizzas. Known for his famous Neapolitan pies at Via Napoli, Luigi has now set his sights on introducing Sydneysiders to the lesser-known but equally delicious Roman-style pizza. Luigi’s passion for pizza, combined with his fun-loving personality, ensures that every visit to 170 Grammi is a delightful experience.
Our Philosophy
Pizza Perfection
At 170 Grammi, we believe that great pizza is about more than just the ingredients. It’s about the experience, the laughter, and the joy of sharing a delicious meal with friends and family. Our pizzas are crafted with love, using only the finest ingredients and traditional techniques. But we don’t stop there—we bring a playful, vibrant atmosphere that turns every meal into a celebration.
The Pizza
The 170 Grammi Difference
What makes our pizzas special? It’s all in the crust! Our Roman-style pizzas are thin, crispy, and oh-so-satisfying. From the classic Margherita to our signature Porchetta pizza, each bite is a crunchy, flavourful delight. Our hand-made 1.9-tonne pizza oven, crafted in Italy, bakes each pizza to perfection, ensuring that signature crunch that keeps you coming back for more.

Reviews
There's seating indoors and outside, and apparently it's hard to get a booking.
The food is one thing (delicious) but the service, particularly by the lady who is always welcoming people in, is top notch for a restaurant with such reasonable prices. No fuss, relaxed, and friendly.
Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

BRAVO LUIGI
BRAVO GRAMMI
BEST ITALIAN COMPANY IN SYDNEY
Learnt that it's quite new and they have wood fired pizzas - great start.
So glad the tables were full as we were located to the bar and were greeted by two lovely and chatty young waitstaff whom gave us all the attention.
They jumped into a silly selfie, and after much chatting, even gave us something on the house (thanks, Max ;D ).
To the actual food, no issues here, sharing a pizza and calamari dish were enough size-wise for us. That WF Pizza was pure Roman-bliss and the flavours were on point. Not too topic heavy, just the right amount.
Can't wait to try their pastas and other offerings. And will sit back at the bar without a doubt. 6/5 stars.
Such a tasty pizza!!
Yum!!!!
Maritozzo to die for 😍
Had a carbonara pizza and supplì, both to die for!! Also fresh maritozzi and drinks made to perfection, one of my top 5 Italian restaurant in Sydney!
Friendly smiling staff with delicious food.
The staff were lovely and friendly, and the food was amazing. They have a wide range of options on their special menu—definitely worth trying, especially the truffle suppli, which I highly recommend.
The pizzas were very thin, crispy, and fresh, though a little bit salty.
I’d love to come back with my family soon!
The maritozzi bun was very fluffy - both the bun and the cream.
Staff was friendly and service was good.
Even better service!
The owner and waitresses are so sweet and happy! Great vibe!
We had an incredible experience. From the moment we arrived, it felt like being in Italy. The waitstaff was energetic and friendly, guiding us through the menu.
Every dish we tried was exceptional, and even the drinks were very well-made. All of this at very reasonable prices.
I couldn't recommend it enough!
The chef is friendly and you can feel the love in this place like Italian Families.
This is a good place to sit with your friends and partner and chill.
They also serve coffee which makes it more interesting for me.
If you already near Surry Hill, I recommend to visit this place.
My pizza become soggy because of the steam from the hot Pizza, I recommend the change their serving method not to have this problem.
If they improve this part, I would happy to give this restaurant my ⭐️ rating, indicating worth traveling up to 60 minutes to visit.
We had the Cacio e Pepe Pizza and designed a margarita pizza with salami and olives. Both were absolutely delicious.
The pizza had an amazing base and cheese.
The service from the whole staff was very attentive!
The pizza bases are thin and crispy and the toppings are to die for.
Must try: the calamari, the suppli, carbonara pizza, porchetta pizza and pistachio maritozzi.
It's buzzing, filled with lovely staff and roman-style pizzas to match. The antipasti is also great but the best is the Maritozzi (Italian brioche bun filled with cream), absolutely to die for.
Service is awesome, first time I happily put in a tip in Australia!
Definitely we will back :)
Highly recommended
We had antipasti to share - the calamari were fresh & tender, tasty suppli and the garlic bread/pizza is a must have!
Pizzas were traditionally thin & crip with the freshest ingredients. One of our favorites already!
We didn’t have a birthday cake and they had one we could order with dinner - cake size tiramisu Maritozzi bun!!! Came with a singing chef…..delicious, will order this dessert again.
Negroni’s were excellent!
Last but not least - we got the bill and were very surprised at how affordable our 3 course dinner for 6 people was !
Will definitely return.
They made our Friday night.
Highly recommend !
I am Italian , pizza lover and never had a pizza like that. Love the dough. Very light and tasty. I love strong flavours so the amatriciana was my choice
